One of the questions we get asked all the time is whether a modern payment system can be installed on older laundry equipment.

There’s a Lot of Older Equipment Still in Service

According to industry research, there may be as many as 25,000 laundries across the United States. Many of those stores vary widely in age, and the equipment inside them can range from relatively new to decades old.

Laundry equipment lasts a long time—and that’s great news for owners. But when it comes time to reinvest in technology, particularly payment systems, there’s often hesitation:

• “It probably won’t work with a payment system.”
• “I’ll have to replace everything at once.”

The reality is much simpler.

You Can Put a Payment System on Almost Any Equipment

In most cases, you can install a payment system on nearly any piece of laundry equipment. There are a few rare exceptions, but they are just that—rare.

Keep in mind, CCI has been around for 25 years. If your equipment is less than 25 years old, there’s a very strong chance we’ve already installed payment systems on that exact model. Even when we first started, we were installing systems on equipment that was already 10–15 years old at the time.

That means today we’re often working with machines that are 30 years old—or more—and still successfully adding payment systems.

What If You Plan to Replace Equipment Later?

This is where flexibility really matters.

If you’re planning to purchase new equipment in the future but aren’t quite ready yet, installing a payment system now can still make a lot of sense.

The good news—especially with CCI systems—is that your payment system can be moved to new equipment later.

You typically won’t need to buy an entirely new payment system. Instead, you may only need:

• A new mounting bracket
• A different adapter harness for the new equipment

In some cases, even the existing harness can be reused. But even when it can’t, the cost to move a system versus buying a brand-new one is relatively insignificant.

Installing a payment system on existing equipment can be an excellent way to:
